TWA Volunteers at Brandon Elementary FLL Tournament October 30, 2013

For a second consecutive year, Central Mississippi Robotics' teams have officiated and volunteered at Brandon elementary's FLL tournament.  Brandon Elementary had 8 teams during the Nature's Fury FLL season this year but only 2. were registered. Central Mississippi Robotics hosted an unofficial event for Donna Mabus and Jessica Stetson's teams so that 2 could be selected to advance to the local official qualifying tournament.  All the Brandon teams had a "FIRST" experience and were able to share and celebrate their season with peers, parents, judges and the public.  Congratulations to the Debris Dweebs and the RoboWarriors for placing first and second overall respectively and advancing.

Hartfield Academy Hosts FTC Scrimmage  November 2, 2013

FTC #6302, TRON, hosted an FTC scrimmage November 2, 2013.  Several area teams arrived in Flowood to build, program and scrimmage.  This scrimmage allowed teams to test and share ideas which was vital.  Scrimmages are very important practice events.  Teams new to the program learned a little about what takes place at a competition.  Even teams who had not started building their final designs  attended because it gave them a chance to build with others and finalize ideas.  Teams displayed Gracious Professionalism as they worked side-by-side.

So begins another season- September 2012

PictureMannie Lowe unveiling the Ring It Up Field at the Mississippi FTC Kick-Off
This month has been an exciting one.  It began on September 8, with the FIRST Tech Challenge Ring It Up! Kick-Off at the University of Mississippi.
More Than 25,000 Students Will RING IT UP!  in the 2012-2013 FIRST  Tech Challenge Game. Using a combination of motors, controllers, wireless communications, metal  gears, and sensors, including infrared tracking (IR) and magnet seeking, about  25,000 students will program their robots to operate in both autonomous and   driver-controlled modes on a field with a center rack. The object of the game  is  to score more points than an opponent by placing plastic rings onto pegs on  the  center rack.  Teams will be challenged to detect special “weighted” rings to earn bonus points. RING IT  UP!  matches will last two minutes and 30 seconds, beginning with  a  30-second autonomous period followed by a two-minute driver-controlled period.   The final 30 seconds of the driver-controlled period is the “end game,” where  each team can score bonus points by lifting their Partner’s robot off the game floor to a maximum height of 24 inches.

Team Members Assemble the New FTC Field Perimeter

Picture
Without the backing of several generous donors, Central Mississippi Robotics would not have been able to purchase this regulation "official" perimeter for its FTC field this season.  Team members Harrison, Jared and Tekoah carefully assemble it by sliding the plastic walls into the frame.   The previous season regulation floor tiles were purchased.   Now the team can practice on a field identical to the one they will compete on at an FTC event.

Techno Warriors Advanced Ring It Up! at the FIRST FTC World Championship

What a journey this season has been and what  a season to remember.  The Techno Warriors Advanced competed at the FTC World Championship  April 24-28 and did exceedingly well as one hundred and twenty-eight  FTC teams converged on St. Louis, Missouri.  The Techno Warriors Advanced team was ranked eleventh in the Franklin division after two days of matches.  The team was chosen by Team Overdrive as an alliance partner in the Franklin Division semi-finals.  The Techno Warriors Advanced placed in the top six teams considered for the Motivate Award.  It was an outstanding finish to an outstanding season.

Congratulations to the World FTC Champions Cougar Robotics, Monkey Madness and Fish in a Boat!!!!  We  are definitely fans.

FTC Bowled Over Georgia Championship - 2012

The Techno Warriors Advanced, team #3486, competed in the Georgia  FTC Championship on March 3, 2012 and earned a 1st place Connect Award, 3rd place Inspire Award  and participated in the final alliance.  The team was out to impress, and  impress they did.  Central Mississippi Robotics salutes and applauds the  achievements of its FTC team.  No one knows better than the parents, mentors and
coaches the tremendous amount of work, heart and effort that has gone into this  and past seasons.   The Techno Warriors Advanced did a stellar job of sharing  FIRST®, inspiring others and  dedicating its time and energy to  attaining the extraordinary goals it set this season.

The day was truly an inspiring one.  There  were 31 teams in attendance including 2 teams representing  Mississippi, 2 teams
representing  Alabama with  the remainder of the teams representing Georgia.   The  atmosphere was electric.  The tournament was run flawlessly and our hats go  off to the event organizers who created a memorable experience for all those in  attendance.   All of the teams participating were winners before the day even  began.    There were some hard fought matches throughout the day.  There were  countless ways to  attack the challenge this year and that was evidenced by the  variety of robots on the fields.  The MCs did a great job of narrating the play  by play action.  The tournament was streamed live so fans of the teams unable to
attend enjoyed the action from remote locations.  The FIRST® robotics  program is a "win" for anyone participating, and we feel honored to be a part of  it.  Congratulations to all the teams!!  The Techno Warriors Advanced will spend  the next 53 days assisting the FLL Techno Warriors team #1051 prepare for the  World Festival.  So until St. Louis... Good Luck teams....

FTC Bowled Over Kentucky Championship - 2012

The Techno Warriors Advanced, Team #3486, competed at the Kentucky Championship on February 25, 2012 and brought home two awards.  They won the Motivate Award and The Winning  Alliance Award.  The 8 hour car ride to Kentucky was well worth it.  They met and learned from world class competitors.  The Kentucky organizers did an  awesome job of keeping matches on schedule and the air was filled with the  electricity that only a room full of FIRST® teams can generate.  The Techno Warriors Advanced was chosen by the second ranked  team, team #4251 - Cougars.  The final team in their alliance was Trash Torque, team #3903.  The Kentucky tournament hosted teams from Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana,  South Carolina, Illinois and of course Kentucky.  Successful, successful, successful - the Kentucky tournament left the Techno Warriors Advanced more  committed, more motivated and even more inspired to up its game at the upcoming Georgia FTC tournament on Saturday, March 3.
