FTC Team's were Invited to Ring It Up! During Season 2012-2013
So begins another season- September 2012

This month has been an exciting one. It began on September 8, with the FIRST Tech Challenge Ring It Up! Kick-Off at the University of Mississippi.
More Than 25,000 Students Will RING IT UP! in the 2012-2013 FIRST Tech Challenge Game. Using a combination of motors, controllers, wireless communications, metal gears, and sensors, including infrared tracking (IR) and magnet seeking, about 25,000 students will program their robots to operate in both autonomous and driver-controlled modes on a field with a center rack. The object of the game is to score more points than an opponent by placing plastic rings onto pegs on the center rack. Teams will be challenged to detect special “weighted” rings to earn bonus points. RING IT UP! matches will last two minutes and 30 seconds, beginning with a 30-second autonomous period followed by a two-minute driver-controlled period. The final 30 seconds of the driver-controlled period is the “end game,” where each team can score bonus points by lifting their Partner’s robot off the game floor to a maximum height of 24 inches.

Team Members Assemble the New FTC Field Perimeter

Without the backing of several generous donors, Central Mississippi Robotics would not have been able to purchase this regulation "official" perimeter for its FTC field this season. Team members Harrison, Jared and Tekoah carefully assemble it by sliding the plastic walls into the frame. The previous season regulation floor tiles were purchased. Now the team can practice on a field identical to the one they will compete on at an FTC event.
Building the FIRST Tech Challenge Field for Ring It Up Season
There is no better way to spend an afternoon than assembling the field for this year's FTC Ring It Up! game. Plenty of PVC pipe was cut and glued.

coaches the tremendous amount of work, heart and effort that has gone into this and past seasons. The Techno Warriors Advanced did a stellar job of sharing FIRST®, inspiring others and dedicating its time and energy to attaining the extraordinary goals it set this season.
The day was truly an inspiring one. There were 31 teams in attendance including 2 teams representing Mississippi, 2 teams
representing Alabama with the remainder of the teams representing Georgia. The atmosphere was electric. The tournament was run flawlessly and our hats go off to the event organizers who created a memorable experience for all those in attendance. All of the teams participating were winners before the day even began. There were some hard fought matches throughout the day. There were countless ways to attack the challenge this year and that was evidenced by the variety of robots on the fields. The MCs did a great job of narrating the play by play action. The tournament was streamed live so fans of the teams unable to
attend enjoyed the action from remote locations. The FIRST® robotics program is a "win" for anyone participating, and we feel honored to be a part of it. Congratulations to all the teams!! The Techno Warriors Advanced will spend the next 53 days assisting the FLL Techno Warriors team #1051 prepare for the World Festival. So until St. Louis... Good Luck teams....
